Well today is Monday and its actually turning out to be a nice day here in MA as the sun is finally shining after a few days of rain.  This morning I woke as I normally do to my daughter Sophia peaking underneath her door and yelling “Momma I’m Up” and the dogs barking as they want to be fed.

After feeding the dogs I headed outside with them for their morning romp and low and behold there were 2 little chipmunks swimming and fighting for their lives to get out of the pool.  It wasn’t looking promising for the little guys unless I assisted and rescued them.  So, I ran to see if the key was in its hiding spot which it wasn’t and I didn’t want to run upstairs as time was a wasting so I decided that the only thing left to do was to hop the fence.   Yes, folks me hopping the chain link fence to go save the chipmunks in my pajamas mind you.  This I must say was a challenge as i’m not as young or as skinny as I used to be LOL.  If only someone would have video taped it huh!  Never the less I made it over the fence breaking my flip flop in the mist of it all but managed to save both of the chipmunks.

One of them took a few minutes to compose himself then off he went into the grass.  The other one though didn’t seem to be doing to well.  I made sure he was safe and away from the pool and let him be to get his bearings and be on his way.  After about 15 minutes the little guy was still laying where I left him and I could see him from my kitchen window.  I had to go and check on him.  This time bearing a pair of gloves and a nice warm towel.  Oh, and I had the key this time so no jumping the fence.  Poor little chipmunk appeared to be dazed and was shivering so I picked him up gently and dried him off.  After holding him for a few minutes he sprung to life and to show his gratitude the little bugger tried to bite me.  Thank God for the gloves.

I was just about to release him and noticed there was a snake (I hate snakes mind you) about 15 feet from us so I rethought my plan as I didn’t want him to be the snakes breakfast and released him in the neighbors yard where he would be safe.

So, I will now be adding to my resume the “Chipmunk Warrior”.  LOL  Never a dull moment!

Stay tuned for more of the “Chipmunk Chronicles”.

Till next time!
